SoftHours: Why I Created Time I Didn’t Have

In a world that moves fast and lives online, more and more people are searching for simple ways to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and build deeper, more meaningful relationships. Whether it’s through self-care rituals, intentional time alone, or shared moments with loved ones, the need to pause and feel connected has never been stronger.

I was born in the 90s, a millennial who grew up deeply connected to others. We called our friends, showed up unannounced, passed notes, and built relationships in real, tangible ways.
Somewhere along the way, everything became faster, more efficient, more digital. And while we’ve never been more “connected,” I started to feel the opposite. Disconnected from myself, from others, from the quiet moments that actually matter.
I missed the feeling of receiving something in the mail. Not a bill or a package ordered in two clicks, but something intentional. Something that invites you to pause.
SoftHours started from a simple need. I wanted to give myself one hour a month that was just mine. No phone, no noise, just space to think, feel, write, and reconnect with who I am.
But as I began creating these letters, I realized something more.
This hour could also be shared. It could become a way to reconnect with a partner beyond daily routines, or to create meaningful moments as a family. A way to gather, to slow down together, to be present.
SoftHours is more than self-care. It’s a gentle invitation to come back to yourself and to each other, wherever you are in the world. This is my way to reconnect with the little girl I was once.

Because sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do is pause and reconnect with what truly matters.
